Exotic New Zebra Collection for Ernest Hemingway

The new Zebra Collection for Ernest Hemingway: Legendary Tablescapes is created by Italian artisans who craft each
piece meticulously in the timeless and traditional Old World style with the highest attention to detail. Taking inspiration from the life and words of Ernest Hemingway and his adventurous travels through Kenya, this remarkable and unique collection is a warm and sophisticated interpretation of a timeless animal print design and celebrates the legendary author's lifelong fascination with the extraordinary beauty of African nature and it’s majestic wildlife. Each piece is individually hand painted with the zebra inspired pattern in a rich, chocolate brown and a soft, creamy white on lovely ceramics shapes still echoing the artist's fingertips.

The Zebra Collection creates spectacular tablescapes and adds drama as the perfect accent for home entertaining and any home decor. The large serving pieces create a bold statement when used to complement the black slate Moveable Feast Entertainment group.

Artisan Crafted Gift Items from the Ernest Hemingway Legendary Tablescapes Collection

The writing style of Ernest Hemingway has long been admired for it's distinctive quality and innovative creativity.  With that in mind, our new Ernest Hemingway Collection was created with original designs and the highest level of craftsmanship. Hemingway strove for truth and genuine authenticity.  He appreciated beauty, originality and craftsmanship.  Each component of the Ernest Hemingway Legendary Tablescapes Collection reflects that same rigorous attention to detail.  Legendary tablescapes that are worthy of the iconic name and artfully crafted items that would likely have caught Hemingway's discerning eye!

Entertaining with MOVEABLE FEAST.
The Ernest Hemingway Collection sets the table with sleek sophistication and offers a wide selection of beautiful gift items.  The entertainment group, Moveable Feast, both complements the Finca dinnerware collection and stands on it's own to create a high design entertainment setting and delights as an unforgettable gift.  The stunning and sleek set of black slate-like stoneware is freezer, oven and microwave safe, chip resistant and completely secure in the dishwasher.

The perfect combination of great design and durability describes the Moveable Feast home accent and entertainment group from the  Ernest Hemingway Legendary Tablescapes Collection.

MOVEABLE FEAST wooden charger/platter

Recently added to the E.H. Moveable Feast grouping is a magnificent hand crafted wooden charger/platter that is truly art for the table and a perfect enhancement to any home decor setting.

Individually hand crafted in Germany, each piece has a unique and distinctive pattern.  The artisan uses a very specific kind of wood which is found only Africa because of it's very fine fiber needed to achieve the precision cuts that are required to create the interesting look that we absolutely love about this product!

The wood is "sliced" and then bleached, dried, and prepared for the coloring process.   After an extended drying period of 45 days, the wood is then dyed, re-dried and cut into very thin, irregular layers.  Each layer of wood is then applied individually to create unique patterns and designs.  After another extended drying period, the wood is finished with a fine sanding technique and then oiled and hand polished to a beautiful smooth and luxurious finish.  This artfully created item exemplifies this collection's philosophy of creating enduring expressions designed for today's lifestyle and tomorrow's heirloom.

Creating Artware for the Table: The Vento Collection

Entertaining with Vento Collection
The Vento Collection....where classic and contemporary meet!

Elegant tableware, exquisite barware and entertainment pieces, and stunning decorative accessories. Vento from Sorella Home is a wonderful collection for today’s bride....and a great way to update that china you got in 1999 as a wedding gift!

Hand crafted in Italy, this collection is created by Master Artisans in a style that goes back generations and represents the finest Italian craftsmanship. Each piece of this unique crystal and glass collection is wax covered, placed on special pantographs and then etched with fine needles to obtain the desired pattern or texture. After the product is acid dipped and engraved, each piece is hand washed to remove the wax revealing beautiful patterns and textures.
At this point, master artisans use special brushes to decorate or “embroider” the pattern with a soft ecru enamel and then 24K gold (or the highest quality platinum) to achieve the incredible luster and beautiful shimmering quality of the Vento Collection.

Each item is then baked in refractory ovens at elevated temperatures and carefully inspected for the highest standards of quality control. Our Master Artisans take great pride in every piece of glass and crystal that they create and consider these lovely Vento products to be exclusive “objects of art” handcrafted to symbolize authentic Italian style and oggetti di arte!

What SORELLA HOME Did For Summer Vacation!

Ernest Hemingway Collection debuts!

It's hard to believe that the Summer 2010 is on it's way out!
It has been a very busy season for Sorella Home...and very exciting!!  Much of our energy was dedicated to the launch of our incredible and totally fabulous Ernest Hemingway Collection.....Legendary Tablescapes. We debuted the highly anticipated collection of stunning tableware, home decor and gift items to rave reviews in July at the Atlanta Gift and Home Furnishings Market.  The color palette and rich textured surface of the Finca Collection were hugely popular with our buyers and the sophisticated Movable Feast entertainment collection delighted retailers because of it's elegant look and how
well it cross merchandised with the entire collection.

Founder Terri Casner getting ready for NYIGF!

After a great success in Atlanta, it was on to New York and Jacob Javits Center for NYIGF - Summer 2010.   Along with the Ernest Hemingway debut, Sorella Home introduced two new collections and a new platinum and white color palette for our popular Vento Collection.  The beautiful and "very bridal" Natura Collection took center stage and was touted as the New Classic White!  And our hand painted Fiori Collection offered something fresh and original in the Italian ceramic niche.  All three collections are featured in Bridal Guide's "Bridal Bests" (September, 2010).   Our dinnerware is featured in both the Casual Dinnerware and
Fine Dinnerware categories.

Along with a busy show calendar, visits with our retailers and continuing our product development schedule, we also celebrated our First Anniversary!  So many exciting things have happened in our first year; but nothing like what's to come!

Our "Design Happens" friends at HGTV wanted to know more about Sorella Home and our founder and designer Terri Casner.

The New Classic White: Natura Collection

New for Summer 2010 is the Natura Collection not your Mom’s “basic” white china!  Natura represents the new “classic” in white tableware.  A blend of American and European styling, with a distinct gourmet influence, Natura satisfies the desire for a quieter style and an understated elegance. A collection of Italian glazed ceramic dinnerware and decorative accessories in a rich warm white with uniquely hand designed shapes and borders creating a sophisticated look.  Each piece in this collection differs from one another by no more than a hint or suggestion while blending together magnificently.  The soft color and delicate shapes draw directly from the traditional, but are contemporary in their attention to detail, finish and updated lines.

Natura is the perfect tableware collection for today’s mood in home décor.  Basic but never boring, this versatile collection will be a favorite for putting together a comfortable contemporary decorating scheme, layering shapes and shades, tone on tone, or using them to create contrasts and accents with other tabletop groups.

Vento: Creating Stunning Tablescapes

The Vento Collection – where tradition and modernity meet!
This is a wonderful collection for today’s bride.  And a great way to update that china you got in 1999 as a wedding gift!
Elegant tableware – dinnerware, bar, entertainment and decorative accessories.  Artisan crafted in Italy, this unique collection is lightly sand blasted and then hand painted in two color ways,  ivory with gold or white and platinum.  Vento complements the most beautiful and popular collections in the market today.  Used alone, the Vento Collection is stunningly beautiful.  Elegant and shimmering.

Vento is particularly special when used to enhance a tablescape.  For example, the charger alone used with a simple white plate can transform a tablescape for a special occasion.   Our Natura Collection, the updated "classic" white collecion for today's table,  is the perfect complement to the elegant Vento Collection.

Vento stemware and glassware are  a lovely enhancement to the table setting.  And along with the elegant decanter makes a wonderful barware collection.  Decorative glassware adds an extra dimension to a tabletop.  Mix and match different styles for a tablescape that expresses your own personal style. Vento was thoughtfully  designed to be a  complement to other collections.  We love the idea of combining pieces of Vento with many different tableware designs from traditional to contemporary and from vintage to brand new.

Gone are the days when a formal dinnerware purchase was essential; but sadly only came out of the cabinet a few times a year.  Today we want to use and enjoy our dinnerware and want it fit with our lifestyle.  It is all about accessorizing the table and building a core collection of versatile pieces that will allow you to create any number of fabulous settings.  Everything from a weekend brunch to a formal dinner can be achieved by simply changing the salad plate and the stemware.  Decorative glassware adds an extra dimension to a tabletop.  Mix and match to express your personal style.   We are reinventing tradition at Sorella Home!

Introducing The Ernest Hemingway Collection

The writing style of Ernest Hemingway has long been admired for it's distinctive quality and innovative creativity.  With that in mind, our new Ernest Hemingway Collection was created with  original designs and the highest level of craftsmanship. Hemingway strove for truth and authenticity.  He appreciated beauty, originality and craftsmanship.  Each component of the Hemingway Collection reflects that same rigorous attention to detail.  Legendary tablescapes that are worthy of the iconic name and artfully crafted items that would likely have caught Hemingway's discerning eye!

The extraordinary lifestyle of this literary master provided great inspiration.   Hemingway lived large, but with an unaffected timeworn elegance and practicality.  He had an insatiable appetite for life's experiences and drew great inspiration from his travel destinations.  We have taken our cue from the major influential locations and passages in Hemingway's life.  Like his words, the Collection's style is simple and unpretentious with an enduring quality creating today's tables and tomorrow's heirlooms.

The idea was to achieve an elegant simplicity with contemporary elements that allowed for perfect blending between groups and a complement to any home style from city chic to traditional.  We’ve used organic colors and textures which are a beautiful balance of complements and contrasts.   We have avoided anything that is too contrived or calculated.   The Collection will include a mix of stoneware, glazed ceramics, blown glass and period inspired pewter that is reminiscent of that special Hemingway mystique.

The Finca Collection adds warmth and style to the table.  Rich shades of ivory, goldenrod and moss green dinnerware hand finished with a subtle woven texture brings to life natural elements and hues that echo the landscapes viewed by Hemingway from his estate Finca Vigia.  It is here that Hemingway wrote some of his most famous novels including The Old Man and the Sea.

The Moveable Feast is a collection of entertainment pieces that merge sleek contemporary style with an organic slate texture and celebrates Hemingway's time in Paris.   "If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast," Hemingway said.  Black Slate chargers, trays and appetizer plates perfect for parties and made of oven-to-table stoneware.  Warm appetizers in the oven or microwave and then place the stunning tray directly on the table for a wonderful presentation.  And yes... they are dishwasher safe.

Safari is inspired by the majestic wildlife of Africa, a place that inspired Ernest Hemingway to write several novels and short stories including The Snows of Killmanjaro.  This inital collection of four dessert plates and mugs proudly reflects the beauty and grace of these incredible animals.  The design motif includes a lion, zebra, elephant and giraffe image. Each are artistically suggested individually and together work as a beautiful accent in the collection or as a great gift.

Mouth blown European glass with a hammered texture includes a decanter, tall tumbler and a double old fashioned to compliment any table or bar setting.  Additional gift and entertainment pieces handcrafted in pewter round out the debut Ernest Hemingway Collection.  Made in the USA and beautifully designed exclusively for the Hemingway Collection,  all pewter pieces are made of a precious metal using hand cast molds.  Both functional and handsome, the pewter requires no maintenance and does not tarnish.  Both the hammered glass and handcrafted pewter collections cross over beautifully with the tableware and stand alone as barware.  Perfect for gift registry.

Havana, handpainted glazed ceramics, will be added to the Ernest Hemingway Collection and is strongly influenced my the lush Cuban environment that Hemingway called home for many years.  This collection is designed to cross-merchandise with the stoneware or to stand on it's own.

We are excited to be debuting the stunning Ernest Hemingway Collection in Atlanta next week at the Atlanta Internationa Gift and Home Furnishings Market.  Look for Sorella Home in the High Design Area - #405.
