Introducing The Ernest Hemingway Collection

The writing style of Ernest Hemingway has long been admired for it's distinctive quality and innovative creativity.  With that in mind, our new Ernest Hemingway Collection was created with  original designs and the highest level of craftsmanship. Hemingway strove for truth and authenticity.  He appreciated beauty, originality and craftsmanship.  Each component of the Hemingway Collection reflects that same rigorous attention to detail.  Legendary tablescapes that are worthy of the iconic name and artfully crafted items that would likely have caught Hemingway's discerning eye!

The extraordinary lifestyle of this literary master provided great inspiration.   Hemingway lived large, but with an unaffected timeworn elegance and practicality.  He had an insatiable appetite for life's experiences and drew great inspiration from his travel destinations.  We have taken our cue from the major influential locations and passages in Hemingway's life.  Like his words, the Collection's style is simple and unpretentious with an enduring quality creating today's tables and tomorrow's heirlooms.

The idea was to achieve an elegant simplicity with contemporary elements that allowed for perfect blending between groups and a complement to any home style from city chic to traditional.  We’ve used organic colors and textures which are a beautiful balance of complements and contrasts.   We have avoided anything that is too contrived or calculated.   The Collection will include a mix of stoneware, glazed ceramics, blown glass and period inspired pewter that is reminiscent of that special Hemingway mystique.

The Finca Collection adds warmth and style to the table.  Rich shades of ivory, goldenrod and moss green dinnerware hand finished with a subtle woven texture brings to life natural elements and hues that echo the landscapes viewed by Hemingway from his estate Finca Vigia.  It is here that Hemingway wrote some of his most famous novels including The Old Man and the Sea.

The Moveable Feast is a collection of entertainment pieces that merge sleek contemporary style with an organic slate texture and celebrates Hemingway's time in Paris.   "If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast," Hemingway said.  Black Slate chargers, trays and appetizer plates perfect for parties and made of oven-to-table stoneware.  Warm appetizers in the oven or microwave and then place the stunning tray directly on the table for a wonderful presentation.  And yes... they are dishwasher safe.

Safari is inspired by the majestic wildlife of Africa, a place that inspired Ernest Hemingway to write several novels and short stories including The Snows of Killmanjaro.  This inital collection of four dessert plates and mugs proudly reflects the beauty and grace of these incredible animals.  The design motif includes a lion, zebra, elephant and giraffe image. Each are artistically suggested individually and together work as a beautiful accent in the collection or as a great gift.

Mouth blown European glass with a hammered texture includes a decanter, tall tumbler and a double old fashioned to compliment any table or bar setting.  Additional gift and entertainment pieces handcrafted in pewter round out the debut Ernest Hemingway Collection.  Made in the USA and beautifully designed exclusively for the Hemingway Collection,  all pewter pieces are made of a precious metal using hand cast molds.  Both functional and handsome, the pewter requires no maintenance and does not tarnish.  Both the hammered glass and handcrafted pewter collections cross over beautifully with the tableware and stand alone as barware.  Perfect for gift registry.

Havana, handpainted glazed ceramics, will be added to the Ernest Hemingway Collection and is strongly influenced my the lush Cuban environment that Hemingway called home for many years.  This collection is designed to cross-merchandise with the stoneware or to stand on it's own.

We are excited to be debuting the stunning Ernest Hemingway Collection in Atlanta next week at the Atlanta Internationa Gift and Home Furnishings Market.  Look for Sorella Home in the High Design Area - #405.
